Key Insight: Understanding local dynamics in the HIV Epidemic
JHHESA contracted Health and Development Africa to undertake quantitative and qualitative research exploring people’s knowledge, attitudes and behaviours in four key municipalities that are located in some of the highest districts with HIV. The study explored issues relating to multiple and concurrent partners, condom use, the linkage between alcohol, sex and HIV, attitudes towards male circumcision, knowledge levels around PMTCT and antiretroviral treatment.
